Why Bathroom Renos Get Out of Hand

Most Bathroom Renos Run Late and Over Budget

It’s usually because of trades coordination — the plumber waits on demo, the tile waits on plumbing, the electrician waits on tile. We have all the trades in-house, which is why we hit timelines.

All Trades, One Team

Licensed plumber, ESA electrician, tile setter, drywaller, painter, glass installer — all on our team. No waiting between subs. No finger-pointing. No phantom invoices.

Fixed Project Quote

Detailed line-item written quote before work starts. Changes are documented in writing with new line items — no surprises at the end. You always know what you’re paying for.

Realistic Timeline

Powder room: 2-3 weeks. Full bathroom: 3-6 weeks. We tell you the timeline before we start, and if we slip we tell you in real-time. No 'we'll be done next week' for three months.

Permits + Inspections

Bathroom renos require building, plumbing, and sometimes electrical permits in Toronto. We file them. Inspections pass first time.

Material Selection Help

We help you pick tile, vanity, fixtures, lighting at suppliers we trust (not just whoever pays kickbacks). Material choices stay within budget — we’ll tell you what costs $1000 vs $5000.

Daily Communication

Daily photo updates on what got done. Weekly written progress summary. You always know where the project stands — even if you’re travelling for work.

Painting FAQ

Common Questions

How long does a bathroom renovation actually take?
Powder room: 2-3 weeks. Standard family bathroom: 3-4 weeks. Primary ensuite with custom tile and freestanding tub: 5-6 weeks. Honest reality: tile day is slow because tile sets overnight, plumbing inspection has a 1-2 day waiting window, and supply chain on tile/vanity selections can add a week. We plan for these in the schedule.
Do I need a permit for a bathroom renovation?
Almost always, yes. Toronto requires permits for plumbing (relocations or new fixtures), electrical (new circuits, panels), and structural (wall removal). Cosmetic refresh (paint, vanity swap, fixture replacement) typically doesn’t need a permit. We’ll let you know during scoping and handle the paperwork.
Can I live in my house during a bathroom renovation?
Yes, if you have another bathroom available. The renovated bathroom is unusable during the project. We’ll dust-mask the doorway, set up temporary plastic walls, and clean daily. For full-home renovations (multiple bathrooms unavailable), most clients stay elsewhere.
Can you help with design?
Yes — included with every renovation quote. We help with layout decisions, tile selection (we have samples in our shop), fixture brands, and budget tradeoffs. For high-end ensuites, we can connect you with a designer if you want more creative direction.
What's the difference between $20K and $45K for the same-size bathroom?
Mostly material selection. Standard porcelain tile vs. natural stone. Big-box vanity vs. custom millwork. Mid-range faucets vs. Brizo. Basic vs. heated tile floor. Same labour cost, very different material cost. We’ll quote at multiple budget tiers so you can decide where to invest.
Will you take care of permits?
Yes — permits and inspections handled by us. We file the paperwork, schedule inspections, meet inspectors on site, and address any deficiencies. You don’t deal with city hall.
What if you discover problems after demo (rot, mould, code issues)?
Documented and discussed with you immediately. Older Toronto homes often have surprises behind walls: rot, knob-and-tube wiring, undersized plumbing, mould. We photograph, quote the additional scope, and you decide what to address. No silent scope creep.
Do you do basement bathroom additions?
Yes — common project. Major complications: drain depth (may need a sewage ejector pump if below sewer line), running new water lines, electrical for ventilation, building permit for new bathroom. $15,000-$30,000 typical.
Can you do an accessibility renovation for aging parents?
Yes — walk-in tubs, curbless showers, grab bar reinforcement, comfort-height toilets, lever handles, slip floor. Federal Multigenerational Home Renovation Tax Credit may apply (up to $7,500 back). We can help with documentation.
What's your warranty on bathroom renovations?
1-year workmanship guarantee on all labour. If anything we installed fails (leaks, fixtures come loose, tile cracks from improper setting), we come back and fix at no charge. Material warranties from manufacturers (typically 5-25 years on fixtures, lifetime on premium faucets) we help you register.
