Licensed plumber, ESA electrician, TSSA gas tech — restaurant work needs all three. Hood exhaust, ansul fire suppression, refrigeration we coordinate with specialty partners.

Building Permits + Plans

Restaurant renovations require building permits, plumbing permits, ventilation calculations, and often architectural drawings. We coordinate with architects/engineers where required.

Commercial-Grade Materials

Restaurants need commercial-grade flooring (slip-resistant, easy to clean), FRP wall panels in kitchen, stainless steel surfaces. Different supplier network than residential.

COI + Net-30 Invoicing

Certificate of Insurance issued to your landlord same-day. Net-30 invoicing instead of credit card payment. Project ID/cost-centre tracking for accounting.

Dining Room Refresh

Common Questions

Can you work around our service hours?
Yes — this is critical for restaurant work. We schedule heavy demo and trades after closing or on closure days (Mondays for many restaurants). Quiet work during the day is possible for some scopes. Full closures we keep as short as possible.
Do you handle Toronto Public Health approvals?
Yes — kitchen renovations and new builds require Public Health sign-off on layouts, hand-wash sinks, food contact surfaces, grease management. We coordinate the inspection schedule and address any deficiencies. Architectural plans often required — we’ll connect you with restaurant-design architects if needed.
What about hood exhaust and ansul fire suppression?
Specialty sub-trades — we coordinate with hood specialists and fire suppression certifiers. Both are required by code and by your insurance. Hood exhaust calculations are part of any kitchen renovation involving cooking equipment changes.
Can you do refrigeration?
Refrigeration work is a separate specialty trade (refrigeration mechanic license). We coordinate with licensed refrigeration partners for walk-in cooler installs, line set runs, and refrigerant work. You still get one invoice from us — we manage the sub-trade.
How long does a restaurant build-out actually take?
Cosmetic refresh: 2-4 weeks. Kitchen upgrade (working around service): 8-12 weeks. Full build-out from bare unit: 12-20 weeks. Key timeline risks: permit approvals (4-8 weeks), specialty equipment delivery (6-12 weeks for some commercial kitchen equipment), Public Health sign-offs.
Can you do AODA-compliant accessibility upgrades?
Yes — washroom accessibility upgrades, ramp installations, accessible entry doors, signage. Required for many commercial spaces under Ontarians with Disabilities Act. We follow current AODA standards.
What about kitchen equipment install?
We install your equipment (ranges, ovens, prep tables, fryers, dishwashers) including gas hook-ups (TSSA-licensed gas tech) and electrical (ESA-licensed electrician). Customer typically supplies equipment; we coordinate delivery + install.
Do you do patio builds?
Yes — sidewalk patios, parklets, rooftop patios. Coordination with City of Toronto patio permit office or your landlord for private patios. Most patios buildable in 2-4 weeks (after permit, which can take 4-8 weeks).
What's the COI process for our landlord?
Same-day Certificate of Insurance issued naming your business and your landlord/property management as additional insured. $5M commercial liability. Many landlords also want WSIB clearance certificate — provided alongside. Standard process.
