Why It Matters

When Does Your Surface Need Sealing?

Most natural materials need re-sealing every 1-5 years. Here's how to tell.

Stains setting more easily

Coffee, wine, or oil leaves a mark that wasn't there before? The sealer has worn off. Re-sealing restores protection.

Water no longer beads

Sprinkle water on the surface — if it absorbs instead of beading up, the sealer is gone. Time to re-seal.

Grout darkening

Grout starts to look gray or stained, especially in shower or kitchen areas. Sealing prevents mold and discoloration.

Wood looking dry or grey

Decks and fences turn gray when UV damage and moisture take their toll. Annual re-sealing extends lifespan 2-3x.

How It Works

Our 4-Step Sealing Process

1

Surface Assessment

We inspect the material, check for stains/damage, and recommend the right sealer for your surface and use.

2

Clean & Prep

Surface deep-cleaned and dried. Existing failed sealer removed if needed. Cracks/chips noted before sealing.

3

Apply Premium Sealer

Penetrating or topical sealer applied per manufacturer specs. Multiple coats where recommended. Wiped clean for natural finish.

4

Cure & Inspect

Cure time explained based on product (4-72 hours). Walk-through with you. Care instructions provided.

FAQs

Common Questions

How much does sealing service cost in Toronto?
Small areas (single counter, single shower): $150-$280. Standard projects (whole kitchen, multiple bathrooms): $350-$850. Large/exterior (deck, driveway): $650-$2,500+. Free in-home assessment with fixed-price quote.
How often does granite or marble need sealing?
Granite typically every 1-2 years, marble every 6-12 months depending on use. Bathroom marble (low traffic) lasts longer than kitchen marble. The water-bead test tells you when it's time.
How long does sealer last?
Penetrating sealers: 1-5 years depending on product, surface, and exposure. Topical sealers (concrete, deck): 1-3 years. Premium impregnating sealers can last 10-15 years on counters with proper care.
Can sealing prevent grout mold?
Yes — sealed grout resists moisture absorption significantly, which is what mold needs to grow. Combine with proper bathroom ventilation for best results. Already-moldy grout should be treated first (see mold removal).
Will sealing change the look of my stone?
We use natural-finish sealers by default — no visible film, the stone looks the same. Color-enhancing sealers are available if you want to darken or enrich the natural color (popular for slate, travertine, granite).
Can I use my counter/shower after sealing?
Wait 24 hours before heavy use. Light use (placing items, walking on dry tile) usually OK after 4-6 hours. We'll give you exact cure time for the product used.
Do you seal concrete driveways?
Yes — this is one of the highest-ROI sealing services. Toronto winters with road salt destroy unsealed concrete fast. Annual or biennial sealing extends driveway lifespan 10+ years. Best applied in late spring or early fall.
What about deck sealing in fall?
Best time is mid-spring or early fall when temperatures are 10-25°C and no rain forecast for 48 hours. Late fall sealing protects through winter. Pressure-treated wood needs 6 months to cure before first sealing.
Can you remove old failed sealer first?
Yes — stripping old failed sealer is included for surfaces where re-application would fail. Common with deck stains and concrete sealers that peeled. Adds 1-2 hours to project time.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes — recurring annual sealing contracts for property managers, commercial clients, or homeowners who want it on a schedule. Discounted rates for ongoing service.
