Weather-Rated
5-7 Year Finish
Why Toronto Trusts RenoHeal Outside

Toronto Weather Eats Cheap Paint Jobs

A bad exterior paint job starts peeling after one winter. Done right, it lasts 5–7 years through every freeze-thaw and humid summer.

Weather-Rated Coatings

Premium 100% acrylic latex with mildew resistance, UV blockers, and flexible elasticity that expands and contracts with temperature swings — the exact opposite of cheap interior-grade paints sold at the bargain end of the aisle.

Pressure Wash First

Every exterior job starts with a thorough power wash to remove dirt, mildew, chalking, and loose paint. If a contractor skips this step, the paint will fail in 1–2 years.

Scrape, Sand, Prime

Loose paint scraped, edges feathered, bare wood primed with bonding primer. Caulk new gaps around windows and trim. Then we paint.

Weather-Window Planning

We watch the forecast. No painting in rain, fog, or temperatures under 10°C. We schedule around your weather, not around our calendar.

All Surfaces

Aluminum/vinyl siding, stucco, brick, wood shingles, garage doors, soffits, fascia, downspouts, decks (separate page). Each surface needs its own prep and paint type.

Happiness Guarantee + Touch-Ups

If a spot peels or fails within 12 months due to workmanship, we come back at no charge. We leave you with the leftover paint for future touch-ups.

What We Paint Outside

Surface-Specific Exterior Painting

Each exterior surface needs the right prep and paint type. Here’s what we handle.

Aluminum & Vinyl Siding

Bonding primer + 100% acrylic topcoat. Most Toronto homes built 1970–2000 have aluminum or vinyl siding ready for a refresh.

Stucco

Elastomeric coating that fills hairline cracks and flexes with the building. Common on heritage Toronto homes.

Brick Painting

One-way decision: painted brick is hard to undo. We use mineral-silicate paints that bond chemically to brick instead of forming a film that traps moisture.

Garage Doors

Steel or aluminum. Sanded smooth, primer where needed, 2 coats matched to house trim. Typical 16-foot door done in one day.

Soffits, Fascia, Trim

The detail bands under the roof, around windows, and along the eaves. Often the first place paint fails — we use direct-to-metal primers and rust-resistant topcoats.

Front Door & Shutters

Single-day curb-appeal upgrades. We use Benjamin Moore Aura Grand Entrance — a high-end door enamel that resists dents and scratches.

Painting FAQ

Common Questions

When is the best time to paint an exterior in Toronto?
Late April through October, when daytime temperatures are consistently above 10°C and overnight lows stay above 5°C. We avoid painting in rain, fog, or heavy humidity. Spring and early fall are ideal — not too hot, not too cold, and the paint cures properly.
How long will an exterior paint job last in Toronto?
With proper prep and premium paint: 5–7 years for siding, 7–10 years for stucco and brick, 3–5 years for high-wear areas (garage doors, front doors, soffits). Cheap paint or poor prep cuts those numbers in half.
Should I paint or replace my siding?
If the siding is structurally sound (no rot, no major damage), painting is 10x cheaper than replacement and looks great. If you've got cracked aluminum, water damage, or chalking that comes off in your hand, replacement might be the better call. We'll give an honest assessment before quoting.
Can you paint brick? Should I?
Yes, we can — with the right paint (mineral-silicate or breathable acrylic). But painted brick is essentially a one-way decision — very hard and expensive to undo. We always have an honest conversation about pros, cons, and long-term implications before we quote brick painting.
Do you do exterior painting in cold weather?
No, we don't paint exterior surfaces below 10°C. Paint won't cure properly in cold temperatures and the finish will fail. If you call us in winter for exterior work, we'll book you for the spring.
What about pressure washing?
Included in every exterior quote. We pressure wash all surfaces 24–48 hours before painting to remove dirt, mildew, chalking, and loose paint. The surface needs to be fully dry before paint goes on.
Do you paint condo balconies?
Some — depends on the building. Many Toronto condo boards prohibit individual balcony painting or require specific colours/coatings. We’d need to see your building’s rules before quoting. For condo work see our condo handyman page.
How long does a whole-house exterior take?
A typical 2-storey detached home (1,500–2,200 sqft of paintable surface) takes 4–6 working days with 2 painters, plus a few days for power washing to dry beforehand. Weather can extend timelines — we won't paint in rain or high humidity.
Do you supply scaffolding for tall homes?
For up to 2 storeys we use extension ladders. For 3+ storey homes or hard-access spots, we bring in scaffolding or use a lift — included in the project quote. We don't take shortcuts on safety to save a few hundred dollars.
Can you match my existing exterior colour?
Yes — we can take a chip from your siding or trim to the paint store and have it colour-matched. Note that even matched paint may look slightly different against weathered existing paint — we'll often recommend doing the whole side rather than spot-touching for a uniform look.
