How much does tile installation cost in Toronto?
Standard tile (ceramic/porcelain) labour: $12-$18/sqft. Premium or large-format: $18-$30/sqft. Full shower tile (walls + floor + niche): $2,500-$6,500 labour. Tile material is separate — expect $3-$25/sqft depending on quality.
Do you use Schluter waterproofing for showers?
Yes — Schluter Kerdi is the industry standard for waterproofing tile showers. The membrane goes behind the tile, creating a 100% waterproof barrier. We include this in all our shower tile work. Comes with manufacturer warranty.
Can you install large-format tile (24x24, 24x48)?
Yes — this is one of our specialties. Large-format requires anti-lippage leveling systems, premium thinset, and specific installation techniques to ensure perfectly level finish. More expensive but stunning modern look.
How long does tile installation take?
Small backsplash: 1-2 days. Bathroom floor: 2-3 days. Full shower tile: 4-7 days including waterproofing and grout cure. Grout needs 24-48 hours before showering.
Do you do heated floor installation?
Yes — electric heated floor mats installed under tile. Most popular in bathrooms and entryways. Adds about $1,500-$3,000 to a bathroom floor depending on square footage and thermostat type. Connected by our ESA-licensed electrician.
What's the difference between ceramic and porcelain?
Porcelain is denser, harder, more water-resistant. Better for floors, showers, exterior. Ceramic is less expensive, easier to cut, fine for walls and backsplashes. Both are durable when properly installed.
Can you remove my old tile?
Yes — tile removal included or quoted separately based on substrate. Old thinset removal can be labour-intensive (typically $3-$8/sqft extra). Sometimes more cost-effective to tile over existing if structurally sound.
Do you seal the grout?
Yes — all grout is sealed with premium impregnating sealer 48 hours after grouting. Sealing prevents staining and mold growth, especially in wet areas. Re-seal recommended every 2-3 years.
Will my new tile floor be level with the rest of my floors?
We level the substrate before tiling so the finished surface is even. For transitions to other floor types (hardwood, vinyl, carpet), we install proper transition strips or thresholds.
Do you do mosaic or glass tile?
Yes — mosaic and glass tile is a specialty. Detailed work, pre-mounted sheets, careful grouting. Most popular for kitchen backsplashes, shower accent walls, and bathroom floors with hexagon mosaics.
